Pre-requisites:

  1. No felony convictions.

  2. No firearms restrictions. * Get a LIVESCAN form from the training office *

  3. Complete live scan and bring DOJ clearance letter to the first day of class.
    We recommend completing the live scan a minimum of three weeks prior to the start of the class.

Course: The PC 832 Firearms Course is the minimum training standard for California peace officers as specified in the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Regulation 1005, and one of the first courses of instruction in the regular basic course modular training format.

The firearms course is a 24-hour requirement. This course consists of one topic, called a Learning Domain. The Learning domains contain the minimum required foundational information for given subjects. The training and testing specifications for a particular domain may also include information on required instructional activities and testing requirements.

The Firearms course includes a firearms range qualification examination. The test is graded pass/fail, with one re-test opportunity. If the re-test is failed, the course must be repeated in its entirety.

More information regarding the course and students’ expectations will be provided during the orientation program presented during the first class session. The first session of this course is mandatory. Students not completing the first session will not be admitted to the class.

Cost: The costs for the program depend upon state law, vendor, and third-party provider fees. The costs provided are estimates and subject to change without notice:

* Non-Sponsored Students will be issued a training center firearm for use during the class. Agency sponsored students will have their firearm and ammo provided by their department.

Course: The PC 832 Arrest Course is the minimum training standard for California peace officers as specified in the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Regulation 1005, and one of the first courses of instruction in the regular basic course modular training format.

The Arrest Course is a 40-hour requirement. This course consists of 13 topics, called a Learning Domains. The Learning Domains contain the minimum required foundational information for given subjects. The training and testing specifications for a particular domain may also include information on required instructional activities and testing requirements.

The Arrest Course includes an 85-question, multiple-choice written examination and several skill examinations on Arrest and Control Techniques. The tests are graded pass/fail, with one re-test opportunity. If any re-test is failed, the course must be repeated in its entirety.
